Monte Terminillo has always been considered the mountain of Rome. The proximity to the capital has always attracted the Romans to the ski slopes and to the hiking trails. After all, the Terminillo can be admired right from the capital, especially on clear days: despite the summit rises about 100 km away from Rome, citizens of the capital can admire the snowy mountain in the clear winter days.
Terminillo is a popular destination for all the cyclists of the capital, and not only that: its summit, located at 1700 meters above sea level, is sought after by cyclists from Rieti, Viterbo and the region of Umbria. We can not forget the great tradition that this mountain has in professional cycling, with two victories obtained by the Colombian Nairo Quintana when there were the last two stage arrivals of the Tirreno-Adriatico.
The Terminillo Marathon was created to offer the opportunity for everyone to climb a mountain that marked the history of cycling by carrying a message of solidarity: even in 2019 you will pedal to rebuild, embracing the territories of central Italy hit by the 2016 earthquake.
Do not forget that the Terminillo Marathon, which will take place on June 2, 2019, will see your departure and your arrival at Pian de Valli. In the area there will be a big bike party, which will involve all the localities of the mountain in one big party.
